Pre Owned Avensis

Hi everyone.

I have recently purchased a Avensis Tourer T180 on a 07 plate from a RRG Toyota. The car has done 44k which I was told by numerous friends is nothing for a diesel. The car came with a 12 month warranty and is due back at the end of this month for an after sale inspection which impressed me as no other manufacturer has ever done this for me. Im hearing horror stories of major clutch problems on the Avensis and want to know if I should be worried about this on my recent purchase. The car has one previous owner and im guessing it was a business user due to the hands free that was fitted.

When I take the car back should I query anything or ask Toyota to check any known problems that could prove costly. In general have I purchased a car that will serve me well and I can rely on or have I bought a potential lemon that will let me down in twelve months. I moved to Toyota due to all previous German cars letting me down... Are all cars the same!!

Thanks

Hi Jo, you should find that most Toyota dealers will be happy to talk to you about potential problems that may arise and how they will deal with them. Toyota have extended warranty to 5 years on some known faults like head gaskets and headlights etc so you need to talk to them. The rules are that most claims have to put to to Toyota GB after the normal 3 yr warranty before the repair is carried out providing of course that you have full service history. Maybe you could talk to them about an extended warranty and a service package to take your car to 5 years old.

In the mean time enjoy your car as I think Toyota will look after you better than most manufactures will in the event of a crisis, I don't expect everyone to agree as no doubt someone will have had a bad experience ... that's life!

Best regards Pete.

No I don't think it is on later models but you only hear the bad news on here normally, plenty of creaking master cylinders though! Anyway I have sent you a PM.

Pete.

On the positive side you have bought an awesome car! Even if the clutch does give up early you can have a quality replacement fitted and then you don't need to worry about it for ages.
