Just bought an aygo platinum 5 door mmt 2008. Been reading horror stories of water leaking into car, back passenger door windows falling off because glue fails on hinges. water pumps, wheel brake cylinders prone to failure. The main thing worrying me is water leaking into car. This car was bought from a garage but i did manage to contact the previous owner through address on log book. He says he has never had trouble with water intake and was pleased with car. Does anyone have any problems with their aygo that i should know about? I am trying to find out whether the percentage of aygos with problems is high or not as ive just got rid of a peugeot after having it only five months because of all the problems and expense, and i dont want any more worries!

We've had our Aygo blue since June. No problems so far, although with all the new potholes who knows

seriously though, yes some appear to leak, but there are thousands of Aygo's around and I'm sure that if they all leaked trading standards would have been on the case by now. Ours is bone dry - even after being rained on, washed commercially with a high pressure hose, buried in snow etc... Talking of which, in the snow it's amazing, leaves rangerovers behind too!! R.R's without offeoad tyres are crap in the snow :yahoo:

Like most small cars they can suffer with condensation inside, simply put the aircon on with the recirculating switch pointing to fresh air, not recirc...

Apart from that, go for it.... 20 quid RFL and more than 50mpg..... No brainer really...

I've owned a 5 door Aygo Blue for just under a year now (from new) and haven't had any problems yet. It's even been more reliable than the wife's Honda Jazz with regards to water leaking!

My Aygo has never leaked. I think the percentage of iffy Aygos is tiny - you just hear more about the bad cases and less about happy customers, that's the way everything seems to work. But I think the majority of us on here are happy. Just don't worry about "what ifs" and enjoy the car. I'm fairly sure it'll be streets ahead than your Peugeot in terms of reliability! Enjoy the low running costs, cheap tax and fun drive. Some suffer from condensation but it can depend on your habits whilst in the car in terms of heating/ventilation etc.

Had my Aygo Blue since June, had no problems with it, does nt leak, plus it drove non-stop on way from essex to scotland about 445miles, and did the same coming back, its a brilliant little car, very happy with mine, mine likes to steam up, but i am a heavy breather

Reading the faults some people have experienced, it does sound scary and I would have probably avoided the Aygo. However the several thousands of happy Aygo owners rarely visit this forum which is a shame as they would tell you they are really happy with their cars. As an example of this, why not pop over to Whatcar.com and look at the JD Power awards. Aygo won best city car in satisfaction beating the likes of the Fiat Panda, VW Fox and the Smart Car. That's no mean feat by any stretch.

Me personally, I have a 2009 Black Aygo and have not had any problems with it so far (touch wood) and can only highly recommend it if you are looking for cheap/dinky fun motoring.
