Cams...

You see all the ads for cams stating how marvellous they are (what ad doesnt  ) but

I remeber reading the fitting 'uprated' cams on your car gives you a little extra bhp(pah..useful at 2 zillion mph) and shoves the all important torque up the rev range.

I am not after any personally its cos I just advised a m8 with a VTi civic 1.6 not to bother as his car will drive cr@p..the V-Tec kick is all very well...but he needs to retain his low down grunt (of lack of hehe) shoving that grunt up the rev range alongside the V-Tec will just mean he will have a cack drive...there will be no progressive feel at all which sux in real life driving. BUUUUT he is getting a Dastek Unichip from the dudes themselves in Fife(damn Im gettin them so much business now heh)...so will they be able to improve things ere?

His mods atm are manifold thingy str8 thru pipe + induction. Should he bother with cams then?Just need to know that Im telling the dude to do the right thing so any advice is mucho appreciated

If it's a n/a, then you dot want a straight thru exhaust. An n/a requires some back pressure to be effective unlike a forced induction car where back pressure is an enemy.

Yes he wants cams, one of the few ways to improve performance on a n/a car.
