Intermitant Starting Problem

I have a mark 2 Avensis (2001). When it starts sometimes it will run for a few moments then cut out and display an engine management warning light. I have replaced the fuel filter to no avail. The car drives and sounds completely normal and then it will just cut out for no apparent reason. I am completely confused by this, it seems to be a fuel problem of some sort as when it starts if the accelerator is touched it will die several times until it eventually runs normally again. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this as it does,nt appear to be the fuel filter or pump or a hole in the throttle vaccum pipes. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Scott.

hi matey

do not touch the fuel filter but only SCVs (both)-- now the're yr enemies.

have them take off and inspected having had a multitester.

the solenoid coil/s is/are about to die.

you did not state the type of yr engine.

as vissible you ve an issue with poor el contact somewhere, if the engiine runs well in general.

try to have a code reader to catch yr problem exactly.

Good luck/Igor
