i have a 53 reg t4 avensis with the sat nav built in.im looking to get it up graded as i live in ireland and the roads are very different.anybody know how and would it be expensive?

Buy tomtom or garmin. Cheap and better way.

And if you insist then you go for after market chinese one on e-bay for about 400 euros or get TNS 700. But if you are going for TNS 700 you may have diffculty with connecting the steering buttons to TNS as plug is different.

Have you checked with Toyota whether they offer an updated CD? I'm not sure about your years' car but on my 06 Avensis the sat nav unit is under one of the front seats holds the CD. It is easy to eject to help protect against theft, say if it was being valeted by someone you didn't know very well.

Even though they are Navteq maps, you can't by the updates directly from them like you can for things like Blaupunkt DX / EX maps, Mr T has the exlusive deal on that.

Check the site above by putting in your car model, then it brings up pictures of the Head unit / Nav, select it and it will tell you if there is an update available.
