I have covered my focus with Warranty direct. I must say they were excellent though it is slightly expensive compared to what you get quatoed for 3 years. I paid about 250 for only a year.

I had problem with the fuel pump and it cost about 300 and they have refunded me that money.

I would advice you to read reviews of this company and see.

Their basic package does not include turbo :( sad.

Let us know what are you doing. I may take the warranty from parkers for my avensis.

Cheers.

My experience of warranty direct is the opposite.

My Fabia vRS had gearbox failure, and they refused to even look at the car because the last service (before the failure) was done at non VAT registered garage. The annoying thing is that the guys who did the work were both Skoda master technicians who had started their own business a few months earlier, so the work was done to the same standard as the dealer would have done.

I wasn't asked about where the last service was done before i took out the policy, only IF it had been done. I fought a battle with them and ended up with a refund after i mentioned trading standards.

I would not recommend them personally.

Good to hear opposite side of the picture. I dont know if you bought it over the phone or through internet.

The trick to get their rates reasonable, run online quot and leave it.

you will get call in 1-2 days, and they will offer you lower quot.

The guy who sold me, clearly informed me, that garage has to be VAT registered where I do my service and they will only release the money if work has been done in VAT registered workshop.

Just to share another story, my friend also took warranty from them and it was for BMW 1 series. He had problems with his power steeing and BMW gave him quot of 2600.

He rang warranty direct who asked him last service invoice, mot. They also contact BMW to check with them that fault did not persist when last service done.

Moreover they sent their engineer who assessed the car and authorized the work.

4 days, job done and he got the money.

I would like to hear more about other companies such as mentioned above by OP.

Cheers.

From what I have read online and my own personal experience it seems warranty claims are down to each individual case. Sometimes the claim goes through with no problems and other times there seems to be some technicality which means the company will not pay out.

My own experience was with an ABS light coming on. The garage diagnosed the fault as a faulty valve block, which was changed but did not fix the fault. The garage then replaced the ABS ECU which did fix the problem. The warranty company said this was two fixes not one and would only pay out for one fix. I realise there can be more than one cause for a dashboard light to come on but I had assumed the warranty was there to pay to cure the problem start to finish.

I would double check the small print on any warranty, some cover you for diagnostic work i.e. stripping down an engine whilst others only cover you for parts and labour to fix the problem.

In the circumstances I'd be very very very inclined to start a small-claims court case against them... even if "must be VAT registered" were in their terms I think it would be found to be "unfair" (see OFT unfair terms guidance.,.) and you might have a decent chance of winning at not too high a cost. Perhaps just the threat of doing such a case might "encourage" them...

Not much point, i have owned two cars since than and have moved on from the experience.

I tried them, they failed me, i got my money back. It ended up costing me nothing and i have an experience to warn others with.

Have used Warranty Direct for my previous Audi and wife's Megane Coupe currently covered. Paid circa £20 each month for each car. My experiences so far have been positive. Important to ensure servicing within manufacturers prescribed intervals, and also to have dialogue prior to any claim to ensure happy with garage you intend to use. I used Audi main dealer on more than one occasion including a very expensive air con replacement. You do need to be very specific about which parts are covered. The air con job for instance did exclude cover on several items which were specified in the "exclusions" list contained within the very clear and transparent warranty booklet which is issued with each policy. Another exclusion for instance is the dephaser pulley on the Megane which is a prolific fault with that particular model.

As I say, my experiences have been positive, but you do need to be conversant with the policy document.

Hope this helps

thanks for all the feed back! it matches what i found online it does seem to be hit and miss regardless who you use the thing seems to be the service interval and where you get it done if you stick to a franchised dealer it seems everything goes well! in the small print of the go car policy it does say overheating and damaged there for caused by is not covered do you think this means they wont pay out if a head gasket fails?

Which warranty are we talking about here?

I've just been on the Go Car Warranty site to see what kind of price it was for my Avensis T-180 for there top cover for 3 years including all the extra's like Turbo cover/Air con ect. I was surprised to see that it was under £400 with a £7000 claim limit.

I remember calling them a few years ago and asked them what labour charge was limited to the warranty! it was somthing like £40 per hour including VAT. Dont think that the car would end up at Mr T for that money.

I'm going to ring them to find out more about whats coverd, as I want it mostly if the HEAD GASKET goes.

As a point of interest... I put some Forte System Conditioner in the rad to try an help with cooling and getting rid of air that causes corrosion in the system. Mined had a new "Short engine" fitted by Mr T under warranty about 5000 miles ago bcause the gasket had blown.

is that condition ok? cause i have heard that some treatments can attack the water pump seals?

I will see what I can find out and post it on here... Yer I contacted Forte's tech department to ask if it was okay for my car, and they said it was absolutly fine. I was on the phone to them for over half an hour asking questions on there Diesel fuel additive as well as other products they supply to only the trade.

I've found that my temp guage now reads lower than before when the engine is hot (running temp) so it must have done something in order for this to happen. I was told that it allows the heat transfer to be better, plus it lubricates the water pump.

sounds good where did you get it from?? i have used similar products on my impreza but that was very expensive as it was an actual liquid you had to replace the water with not just an addative made a huge huge difference tho!

I got mine from a mate who works at a main dealer. Only paid a fiver for it. It does say on the bottle that the rad should be flushed 1st, but mine had new fluid replaced in it when the engine was replaced, so I didn't bother. It also contains a dye in it so you can see if there are any leaks.
