Ae101 And The Us Sedan

Are the US 97 Corolla 4-door sedan and the AE101 Mechanically identical or atleast similar? I emailed the guys at TRC-Tuning and said the front bumper kit would fit. So I was wondering what other similarities there were also.

First of all, '97 US model Corolla standard and CE saloons are both AE101s. By definition, an AE101 is any model on the E10 platform with a 4A engine (or any derivative). Whether it be a 100-bhp US 1.6 standard saloon with the 4A-FE, a 165-bhp Levin with the supercharged 4A-GZE, a 165-bhp Corolla BZ Touring Wagon with the blacktop 20V 4A-GE, a 114-bhp 1.6 GLi hatchback, or anything in between.

UK '92-'97 1.6 GLi/CD saloons are mechanically identical to US '93-'97 1.6 sedans (standard and '97 CE), but the bumpers are different. US bumpers are considerably larger front and rear, and the UK models have the rear registration plate in the boot lid instead of the US models' bumper mounted registration plate. This isn't even taking into account the three different bumper designs used in UK (actually all of Europe) models. So without modification, the front and rear bumper kits meant for European model Corollas will not fit on US models.

Cool! Thanx for the lesson. I'll keep it in mind. I have the base model with the 4A-FE engine.

I just didn't want to choose one of the three kits avaliable for the US rolla. When the time came in any case.

You ever go to vvti.net? The forum's are down at the moment, but it's a boared meant for corolla drivers. When it's up, you might have to check it out.
