Hi, Unfortunatelly i've bought a toyota aygo "now connect" with this "i-wanna-be-a-multimedia" system. Although it looks pretty, it manage multimedia files in a awful way.

My advice is to buy this system only if you are interested in bluetooth handsfree and a pretty dockable nav sistem.

If you want this for audio/ipod integration, buy another radio because it's not a nice solution. i try to explain you why:

Everytime you insert a usb pen, this tomtom..(a daemon running into tomtom, called "vehicledaemon") scan all the USB file system (FAT32) for find songs.

It takes lot of time and often stop the seach phase telling: USB Device not supported. This because it's not able to handle lot of songs and it's VERY susceptible to weird file names and too complex folder tree

Anyway, if you turn the key for start the engine everything will be restarted, because tomtom take the power from the 12v switched and not directly from the Battery (as consiquence usb devices will be switched off too)

Integration with OEM radio buttons and radio-display is also very poor. For listen audio from usb/ipod you have to press the AUX button and it works only after (and if) the songs are all identified.

After this EXTRA load time (you are probably arrived to the destination) you can use the oem radio buttons for only these functions:

Track Up - Down : Next-previous song

OEM radio display show nothing: no song title, no folder, nothing! It says only CD because this system emulate a dummy CD changer in a bad way.

that's all.

I've tried the bluetooth integration with a windows phone and it works good (i still dunno if there are compatibility problems with other mobiles) and nav voice goes in the left front speaker attenuating (or directly bypassing) the signal in a good way.

I'm going to buy another radio for change the OEM. It will be compatible with the tomtom because audio connection is the same. The black box that you see have 4 wires: +/- input and output of front left speaker and it's connected to a normal iso connector. Tomtom just enable a little rele' for switch the output only when it has to says something (you can hear the tick sound of the switch if you put your ear near the box).

The cable that goes to the x1 connector wont be used because probably the new radio haven't one (and won't be necessary since usb/ipod will be managed by the new radio and not by TT anymore). We have just to take 2 wires of it (+ - 12v) for give current to tomtom. I've found somewere the x1 pinout, i'll make a little tutorial for those interested to integrate a 3rd part radio with this system

See ya,

Kad

Attention, i've found several X1 connector pinout (AKA Mini iso).

This should be the right one: Becker Unilink » Mictronics

Yellow connector is just for tomtom audio songs output, and all pins(5) except subwoofer, are connected.

These are for front/rear left/right Speakers + one common gnd audio. Voice messages are sent directly to the little black box, so if you change radio, you wont need this connector.

The green connector pins are used by tomtom for:

2 wires for power tomtom, usb bus and the little black box (gnd +12volt switched)

3 wires used for communication between tomtom and radio*

Blue connector is not used

* Tomtom (vehicledaemon process) act like a CD changer emulator, using a serial port /dev/ttySAC3.

I'm reversing the protocol data exchanged between tomtom-oem radio in order to find track up/down buttons command, and i hope also all the other buttons. In this case, people will be able to bypass the default system, and use tomplayer, a very nice media player, givin the possibility to watch video and browse better music/video folders using all radio buttons instead of loose time with touchscreen.

Actually i've found the packet sent by tomtom for enable the AUX button. Yes, because if tomtom is connected to the green connector, aux button of radio will be disable since all songs are not available. This make the front aux connector unuseful if for example you want to use an external mp3 with the 3,5" jack.

See ya

I will be taking delivery of my brand new Aygo Go at the end of the week and look forward to using the satnav. Please can someone tell me if it the Tomtom TNS410 it uses??

I noticed whilst looking through the online manual for the TNS410 that you can use it in any vehicle and Tomtom do a kit for this but the price is quite steep at about £140.00 and the images of what you get in the kit shows just a standard type but purpose fit cradle which does nt appear to be an Active Dock so guess some of the functionality might be lost but i could be wrong.

I too would like to fit my own head unit into the Aygo but might wait a while before doing so.

I am removing the built in Tomtom from my Aygo Go as it is rubbish. The navcore is well out of date and it lacks things like RDS traffic and advanced lane guidance with no apparent updates available apart from maps.

So i will be fitting a standard facia and fit my old head unit and get a proper Tomtom.

Did you do this? Do you think it will affect your trade in price?
