Crash

My prius V tractor. Afraid I lost. All n/s badly damaged from front to back. I have advised my insurers but note that club toyota can also arrange repairs. Which is best and what should I do? I have never been in the position of having two methods of repair. I assume if Club Toyota arrange it then my insurers will take it as me appointing my own repairer?

Regardless of who does it, it MUST be repaired either by Mt T or one of Mr T's approved repairers.

That way, your bodywork warranty will remain intact.

Shame it's happened, but at least you are ok?

You can ask that it is taken to your repairer of choice with most insurers, but they will want their assessor to inspect the damage (takes upto 7 days to visit) and you probably won't get a hire car (unless the tractors insurers admit liability if indeed it was clearly his fault).

Don't do anything stupid in assuming they'll pay all your losses etc, but if it was the other guys fault, keep receipts and mitigate your losses (don't take the *****) and claim back later. Also keep hold of your excess receipt once you collect your car from the repairers.

Pretty much talk to your insurers and keep chasing things - within reason.

Update on the crash- The whole of the nearside was damaged. Main impact with the tractor tyre was between the front wing and passenger door- then right along bodyside ending up on the rear arch. It looked really nasty. However, the estimate (from a Toyota approved repairer) amazed me- £2700 including the 20% waste of money to the Government. Looking at the damage I was pretty sure that there was around £7k worth. Couple of years ago a few bent panels on my landrover cost nearly £4k! :toast:

Actually no, I'm not surprised at the cost. Manufacturers are doing their best to keep repair prices down and i think this is reflected in the premiums for the Prius, certainly when I went from the Avensis 2.0t-spirit to the Gen2 i got a 100 pounds refund from Toyota insurance, and the Gen3 put my premium up by only 15 quid for the 6 month balance of the year when i changed... I have since changed to LV and the renewal is due next month, so t'will be interesting to see what that comes back as...

I'm assuming your repairs are under way? It should look as good as new too!!
