4Age, Ae82 Help

hi everyone my name is Rich and ive just joined toyota o.c

ive got a 1985 corolla gt ae82. its been sat up for about 2 years due to lack of time

but the time has come to get her running and have some fun

unfortunatly it wont start. ive charged Battery, put new fuel in and new fuel filter. it turns over but wont fire. also changed

distributer cap and rotor arm , ht leads , and plugs.

any advise on what to check would be great

Are you getting fuel to the plugs? if not by be a sensor problem.

might be a fuel pump mate, had the same problem on my mr2

You need to start with the simples mate.

Is the compression?

Is there fuel being delivered?

Is there a spark?

When the engine turns over does it sound like it has compression or does it spin fast with no note change to the noise?.

Remove the fuel return line and check that some fuel is coming through.

Using a spare spark plug, remove each lead and connect the spare plug, earth is on the engine somewhere and crank to car over, is there a spark??

After answering these basics you can move on.

My AE82 4A Carbi rolla runs nice and smoth

Fuel Delivry OK

New spark plugs and wire set.

Carbi cleaned.

Battry is strong.

Starter... Bad

what really happens when i try to start it when engine still cold it cranks really fast (whats makes me sad) but not firing up,

then i push the car and roll start it and it starts... but when this happens engine shakes like running on two clynders only and black smoke coming out of the exahust for about 10-30 seconds then it runs just fine.

this telling me that during the fast spin carbi overfilled with fuel so we cleaned the carb and we made sure that the floating is working fine and there is no extra fuel delivered, also i can see clearly the fuel level through the carb glass.

when engine is hot its starting fine... any suggesstion will be extrmelly appreciated.

theres something wrong with the fueling at cold start my best bet would be your carb is faulty.
