Hi,

Some swine has smashed my drivers side door mirror - leaving it dangling :(

Toyota want £92 for a replacement (not fitted), but i've seen them on eBay for about £30... has anyone bought one, are they easy to fit?

How do you fit them - i'm rubbish at that sort of thing..

yes get it off eBay and just clip of the face plate from the back.. MAKE SURE you dont drop the middle bolt in the door card! i suggest you get them to fit it, or pay a local mechanic £20.

...any idea how to get the old mirror off?

I've taken 2 bolts out, but there seem to be 2 clips holding it on, and i'm a bit stuck!

Is there much difference between an eBay £30 one, and a "proper" one from Toyota?? ... apart from £60 :)

Does anyone know how to get past the clips holding it on? Once i've done that, I should be OK :)

I've been quoted about £90 to fit it otherwise! .. plus £92 for the mirror.

I'm tempted to get a £30 eBay one, and try to fit myself... IF I can get past the flipping clips :S

they aint clips.. you need to pop the housing first it looks like a D shaped peice of plastic, and inside there is a screw which you remove.. its really quite hard to explain on here. You should seriosuly get a 'local' garage to fit it, NOT your dealer. And just tell them your only paying £15/20

What 2 bolts did you remove?

From the top of my head the mirror is held on by 3 screws from the inside and a locator-pin.

To get to the screws you need to remove the interior panel around the adjuster.

I believe thet's partially clipped and screwed, but It's been a while since I replaced a mirror...

Hi,

I just removed 2 screws, but theres a white clippy thing at the bottom, and thats where i've come a little unstuck. Will get a photo!

I'm also in 2 minds... get a £92 replacement from the dealer, or a £30 one from eBay...

Ah, you're still working on the inner trim?

You should be able to pull the trim off now, including the white "plugs" that fit into the metal.

And I use the plural, since there's a second one of thos white things just above the adjuster...

Yes, the inner trim - I was worried about those plug things - didn't want to break anything!

Thats off now :D needed a bit of a pull.

Just need to get a replacement mirror now! Thanks for all the help :D
