Wet Key

Dear All,

Was wondering if any one has any advice on what to do with a wet key. Yesterday the key master key for my 58 hilux invicible 200 went through the washing machine. Have opened it up over night and left it in an airing cupboard to dry out as best as possible.

Have tried it this morning. The lock button works, however the unlock button doesn't. I can enter the cab by physically putting the key in the lock and and unlocking it, but the alarm goes off. The vehicle will also start up, but the alarm continues to go off.

I am assuming that I will need to get a new key for it. But I was wondering if anyone new of any way to reprogram the key from within the car? Any ideas greatly appreciated as its a hire car so only have the one key.

Thanks in advance for your help
