Hi

I Have just bought a 2010 Avensis D-Cat 150 Tourer and I would like to buy a performance chip for it. I am struggling to find anywhere that supplies a chip for this engine.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get one??

Many Thanks

Hi mate, contact Partsking aka kingo via a PM on this forum he is at a Toyota Dealership in Deeside and also Wrexham, I am led to believe they may sell the only one that works with your engine.

Aye Marco....same as Pete ,contact Parts King / Kingo hereon for best advice and Chip Kit. You can buy cheaper, but don't be tempted. A few of us on Rav 4 forum have had great results using Lindop Toyota's Kits.

I have the latest chip kit from Lindop via Kingo fitted to my 2010 2.0D4D, had to wait a little while because of the new engines having a DPF and the mapping being different (They needed to modify the tuning box settings for use with the dpf equipped engines). Excellent service from Kingo, and the car (as measured by the bum dyno) is much stronger.

They are high quality items with OEM connectors, and plug into the Fuel rail and the Boost sensor. I am logging mine this week with the Torque app on my HTC and Elm 327 bluetooth ODB2 dongle, and it's going on a rolling road in a few weeks where I will do a couple of runs with it disconnected and a couple of runs with it connected. Hopefully it will back up the noticeable feeling of there being much more torque available from around 2k onwards and it still pulling well beyond 3.5k rpm where before it tailed off rapidly (It is a diesel though after all).

It's expensive in the grand scheme of things, but as of yet I am pretty certain the encryption used on the new model ECU's / Fuel pumps is fairly hardcore, leaving a tuning box as the only option as remaps are not available. These boxes are built in Germany and they are tested on a rolling road on the cars they are intended for and have TUV approval.

I have always had my forced induction cars remapped before, but at least with the Lindop kit, when it's time to move the car on, you can always sell the kit on and recoup some of the initial outlay :)

Eloquently put, oh Master of the Fluff....will be interested in your rolling road results/comparisons, but if you post them on here, I wonder if it will start the heated debate that apparently started on another forum (Auris...?)

Personally, I could not give a fig (polite for a Glasgow guy, eh?) what the increase in bhp / torque arguably comes out at.....like you, it has made a very nice to drive car even nicer, smoother, faster, more flexible. "Astra Boy" up here has been shown a clean set of heels on more than one occasion, though.....Forgive Me Father.....

Eh up Kev

I am not interested in figures either, I am just interested to see the graph and how the torque curve is looking. At the end of the day you can make a rolling road read whatever you want :)

Its a well made bit of kit that does the job very well. I am mainly interested (when I do my playing) on seeing what's happening with boost pressure, because a lot of tuning boxes / chip kits are posh resistors that just overfuel the motor. I reckon the Lindop kit is tweaking boost pressure as well as just tweaking fuelling.

For me, it's transformed the car, it's much stronger and get's a big fat thumbs up.

Although i have a different engine and car, i can confirm the effects of the Tuning box from Lindop Brothers.

My car is so much more torquey when i plant my foot, yet it drives as standard when you are pootling around town or in slow traffic. Its a great tuning box and worth every penny IMO, especially when you consider that a custom remap will cost roughly the same, but is not removable by the owner in most cases.
