hi guys need a little help here, I have a 2002 avensis 2.0 D, (200k mls)story is, went over speed ramp to fast and damaged the sump after a while the oil light started flickering and eventually came on, so I dropped the sump to find that when the base of the sump got pushed up against the pump pickup the crud in the bottom of the sump clogged the wire mesh in the pump pickup, I repaired the sump and cleaned it and replaced oil and filter, started her up and everything was ok except for a whine in the turbo, after about 30 miles the turbo blew, I guess then the engine was being starved of oil the turbo got damaged,

So gona go and get a secondhand turbo,

Is there anything I need to know about fitting the replacement turbo or is it straight forwarwd ,anything to watch out for or just connect it up and away we go?

Hi Eddie,

you don't hang around mate, good job!

Just out of interest how much did the turbo cost and where did you buy it from?

Pete.

Fast work fella! The boys at work said that if you wanted to be super careful then disconnect the fuel and prime the turbo with oil by cranking the engine until the oil light went out before firing it up for the 1st time. Although I suspect that none of them have ever gone to that much trouble themselves!
