Ok chaps - it's renewal time and Toyota's quote is about £60 less than my current insurers' quote. Can anyone provide any feedback on the quality of service before I make up my mind?

Hiya

I had Toyota insurance for some years, a couple of Avensis and then my Gen2 for the first year.

However, the second year of my Gen2 Mr T wanted to charge me about 20pct more than the previous year - no change in the policy or my situation, so I had a scout around... finished up with LV= for 226 pounds instead of Mr T's 310 - you can guess where I went

As to their service, they were always helpful on the phone, and even tried to match LV= - I pointed out that had they matched it in the first place I wouldn't have gone looking and changed anyway....

Choice is yours really, depends on the type of cover and what you are prepared to pay.

Car insurance is a rip off anyway, the companies know that it's compulsory and therefore charge what they like.

From a dealer point of view, the claims handling service is first class. The only thing you ever want from an insurance company is a) A competitive quote and b ) A good service should you ever need to use it. many companies can give you scenario A but when it comes to a claim it all falls over and you are at the mercy of somebody you cant understand in India

If you price is right for you, go with Toyota

Kingo

Well until you run into the back of a load of scrotes who all claim £20k whiplash each or you lose it on a bend and stick your car in a ditch!

All insurers have to pay into a fund to pay out for damages caused by uninsured scrotes. So yes, the honest driver is paying for the damages and negligence caused by the great unwashed. Works out about £30 each policy! :censor:

Try FIRST DIRECT they were the best for me and my son who also owns a Prius and a RAV4.

Toyota insurance did not even reply to my request for a quote.

Do not get confused with Direct line though they were a BIG problem for me.

You can check out FIRST DIRECT on their web site.

Hope this helps. Chris.

i beleave in CANADA insurence for cars is done throuh the goverment scheme (no cracks about the coalition)and the cost seem lot fairer than here.

I believe that's just in a couple of Provinces (British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba if I remember rightly) and the limits provided are MINIMAL and don't cover the car in any way at all. Most people will top up these Government schemes with private insurance to cover themselves and their assets.

Renewal time for us this weekend, my wives existing insurer had a stupid quote for us fully comp, two drivers 6pt and 3pts doing 12k/annum sdp of £495 nearly twice that of the big Nissan Murano (3.5V6). A quick internet search and happy days with Swiftcover at £222/annum.

Decided to take up Toyota's insurance and give it a go.Came up £60 cheaper than the existing LV including excess protection. Mainly because, should a prang happen, I know Toyota parts will be fitted. Most insurers can use substitutes which are probably fine but obviously wouldn't be included under Toyota's warranty.

I have just renewed mine with Direct Line mainly because I was very happy with how they dealt with a no-fault claim for me.

My insurance has gone from £350 to £450 using comparison websites...I guess I live in a fairly badly rated area.

Apparently Bradford is on the hotlist for uninsured drivers (wonder why when the fine is only £60), carjackings, and crash-for-cash claims.

Toyota quoted £400 so they've gone to being extremely competitive.
