Hi there guys, :D

Have just fitted new 15" Lenso alloys to my paseo. B) Problem is that when I took her for a spin the other day she began shuddering at 65mph. Took her up to 80 but the shuddering got worse.

Now that they have been on a week, waiting for them to bed in, I tried again and the shuddering is starting about 80 mph now. Haven`t tried the ton yet with these alloys but my last set of alloys helped me top 127mph.

Any idea what might be causing the shuddering? Could it be the suspension needs set for the increase in aloy tyre size??

Cheers for any help

Is it the wheel balancing either needs doing or needs checking??

aye.. balancing or tracking...which can be done at quick fit

Wheels were already balanced before I got them. Took the car immediately to National tyres to get the tracking sorted as well.

sounds like the wheels are missing the spigot ring, this is a ring that goes inside the centre hole so that the centre sits on the hub. Take your wheel off and check if the centre hole is bigger than the hub.

Was it doing it on a Straightaway, or on a turn? your camber could be off, if during a turn. and i doubt you would have neglected to screw the lugs in all the way. GT4 is probably right, but in the future, when shuddering starts, it's probably not a good idea to keep pushing the car further. you may be worsening the problem! :o

Sounds simple, but tyre pressures as well. When putting tyres on they just put whatever pressure in they feel like. When I got mine they put 30lb in all the tyres which was too much and caused the same problem you're having. However when I had new tyres put on the front a couple of weeks ago there was 25lb in when I checked ;)

Am going to check the spigot rings on each of the 4 new alloys. One might not be sitting properly. Was going in a straight line at the time.

Haven`t thought about the tyre pressure on the car. Think a paseo requires 26 lbs if unladen and 28 or 29 if laden. Dunno if the pressure needs to be different now that I`ve got larger alloys? :(

Took the car down to Knockhill Racing Circuit to test the performance of the car. :D Once I get this problem sorted out I`ll take her back and see if she`s any better. Until then I`ll just have to test her up to 70 mph on the motorway.

i had to use a coppper hammer to get mine in, they can be quite tite, did u use the nuts that came with the new wheels? if not maybe the nuts are wrong for the wheels, usually new wheels do come with the correct nuts, just asking in case u r using ur old nuts
