Engine Management Problems

I have a 2001 Avensis GS VVTI petrol.For last 2 weeks i have had an engine management light on and the vehicle has had intermitant starting and has been cutting out when driving,i have checked the earths and i have changed the fuel filter and air filter,drop tested the Battery and alternator which were fine so i had it diagnosed, it came up with coil pack 1 problem, i replaced the coil pack last night and reset ECU. The car ran fine with no warning light last night and for a few hours today. Now the engine management light is back on but the car is driving and starting ok. I am completely stumped as to what is wrong as i have done all the checks that both myself and the AA can think of. I would be grateful for any suggestions as this is costing me dearly and i feel unsafe driving the car with my family in it.Thanks, Scott.

Time for specialist help perhaps? Or another quick round of checking the fault code and remedying that. It could be that the coil pack was the larger of a pair of faults and masked the second, smaller or intermitent fault.
