Obd-2 Scanners And Software

I've used a wired OBD-2 Scanner (Elm 327) for several years very successfully - currently using Scantool version 1.20 software.

Recently I decided to purchase a very cheap Elm 327 bluetooth scanner device from eBay that simply plugs into your OBD socket and connects via bluetooth (Com 8 Baud 9600). The later versions of Scantool's software (after version 1.13 I think) seem to recognise the bluetooth unit as an Elm 327 Clone & wont let you use the software. Earlier versions dont seem to have this problem.

My question, I'm currently having to use an early version of Scantool's software for the reason stated above. Is there any other GOOD OBD-2 Free or paid software I can use iwth this cheap Elm 327 Clone ?

I keep hearing about a programme called `Torque` that's available on Android (pity I havn't got an Android phone !!) - what other choices do I have ?

If you can upload this software and send me the link by pm, I would be able to tweak it around.

currently working on same software but for my N900.

In case if you have N900 then

Scan tool for N900

I could have a look on Sunday and if could not help with tweaking, then I would help you in a different way.

Have faith in me ;)

Cheers.

Check your e-bay listing, and it should mention if it is 1.3 or 1.4. There is no actual 1.5b, and people who are selling it on e-bay are fooling others.

Well I hope you can connect it to your laptop. Make sure you use netbook/ laptop bluetooth application and not any other and add the ELM327 as SP (serial port).

As it is mentioned in my posting, use the software to get the reading.

Once you manage it to connect to your car, please share your contribution in this topic.

Car Values.

It will help you, me and others to compare the data / statistics.

Let me know if you have any troubles.

Cheers.

Hi Tubaman,

I found good OBD 2 bluetooth adapter (ELM327) which called Stahlcar and perfect android app called OBD Car Doctor. Version 2.25 It's free. This app can fits to lot of European and Japanese cars including Avansis. Clear codes, read live data read codes etc.

follow the link for product details plz.

http://www.stahlcar.co.nz/elm327-bluetooth-obd2-diagnostic-tool-p-167.html

Torque app doesn't support jap import cars but OBD Car Doctor 2025 or paid version 3.03 works on all cars.
