Front Window Trim Removal

Hi All,

Just a reminder to start: I have a five door 4.3, early 2008 vintage.

The question is, how do I go about removing the triangular piece of trim that sits in the bottom forward corner of the drivers side door glass? Trim removal is one of my big fears. I haven't broken any bits of the RAV ( YET!!!! ) but my record with previous vehicles is .....less than perfect shall we say. :blushing: It seems logical that the trim is either removed by prising it using the glass as a fulcrum for the trim tool and removing the trim away from the glass, or it slides off rearwards parallel to the glass.

Any instructions or ideally a picture would be much appreciated.

Best I can do for a picture Chris. At least it shows the clips. I think that bit is fairly flexible plastic anyway, so maybe not so easy to break.

You might already have this pic yourself though!!!

Think you just detach the claw first, then it will probably come away.

Sorry, no pic of the RHS one.

EDIT:

Sorry Chris, not reading properly. You mean the one inside the drivers door? (not outside of the windscreen! - beat myself up! :bash:)

Using a screwdriver, detach the clip, 3 claws and remove the garnish.

Again, you may already have this. Think you should be OK knowing where the clips are. I've had that one off without any trouble

Thanks SHCM - it was the second one on your post that I was talking about. I suppose that I had better come clean, I'm looking at a way of mounting my TPMS on a "bracket" that would replace the piece of trim in question. First job is some careful measuring followed by a drawing and working out the power source and fusing arrangement. I've been meaning to find a better place to mount it for about 2 1/2 years after I discussed the matter with Hoovie.

In your neck of the woods again in middle of February Bothy/Big Kev, but it looks like the last "regular" visit for a while as my Daughter and her family are moving to Oxfordshire. I would always infinitely prefer driving north on the M6/M74 to south on the M1.
