puck up a 2009 sr180 in october last year there is only 5894 miles on the clock, real good wee car apart from it seems a little tight to get into 1st and 2nd gear ,more so when cold and when changing from 1st to 2nd it seems clunky. what do you guys think i should do? i bought it of a non toyota dealer and im not sure of when service intervils are as in should i just wait and see what my toyota dealer says when it gets its first service.

thanks joe

Min is the same with nearly 20k on the clock on an 08 plate. Mine improves as its warms up, but occasionally you hear it in stop-start traffic, but i don't think its anything to worry about.

Unless others say it needs looking at, i am not concerned.

Mine is the same too. 59 plate and with 11000 miles on the clock. I was going to take mine back to Mr T. Even tried pumping it because I didnt know if the clutch was hydraulic, but it still makes no difference. It does get alot better when the car is warmed up.

Could it be something to do with the torqe splitter on the lower ratio gears. I read somewhere on here that there is one fitted to first and second on the SR180. It could something to do with this but I am no machanic or engineer.

It is just nice to know it is not just me.

I dont have the SR180 but the 2.0 Diesel not sure if they use the same gearbox its 6 speed, but as some have reported very notchy 1st & 2nd when cold but once warmed up its fine, should have loosened up by now at 60,000 miles. I have changed the oil on but its made no difference??
