Handbooks

Evening all.

As the new owner of a '96 RAV4.1 I thought I'd look on fleabay for an owners handbook.

Found a dealer selling a handbook but it is apparently a translation job done by a grey importer rather than the

"NOS" item that perhaps the ad. lead me towards ...

Are the original 'glovebox' Toyota-produced handbooks super rare?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The original handbook for the car ... I think I should have 1 if not 2. Its not a workshop manual tho.

haynes did write a manual for the 4.1 version but it was printed for the USA market and so lists the car from 1996 - 2000. Its useful but not comprehensive.

Careful you don't end up with what I got off eBay for a Fiat punto... a CD set for the Punto entirely in Italian !!

Thanks for the welcome.

Would be very happy to cough up some beer tokens (!) for a handbook. My email address is marston2205*&*btinternet.com

(replace *&* with the usual abbreviation).

Bought an American issue of Haynes but as with every Haynes I have ever bought it is not to be relied on ....

(Loved the illustration of a scored brake disc that suggested that wear was because the pads were down to the rivets??).

Have only had the 35 mile drive home in the RAV so far - but was astonished at how well it went and handled. Done 103,000 and drives as if it has done just 10,000.

Removed front bumper and slightly crumpled front wing but again was amazed that after 14 years there is literally not a spot of rust to be seen.

Thanks skye. Will certainly download a copy - but would still like to purchase an original from bothwell-buyer to keep in the glovebox in order to keep my other half happy!

I managed to purchase the handbook for my 4.1 from my local Toyota dealer... it was about £8 if I remember. They had to order it though, took about a week to arrive. I also have the Haines Rav4 manual... just about worth having, but lots of things not covered! Thank gawd for TOC :)
