Worst Mpg Ever

Just sold my IQ2 after 4 months and 3500 miles, my Merc E320cdi does better MPG than the IQ2. Not happy at all, seems to be a big problem with some IQ2's when it comes to MPG.

Dealer is useless, been in a few times but they cant seem to do anything, i was not getting more than 35MPG. Full tank was not getting me more than 200 miles and that was me never going over 60MPH.

I have heard a lot of this about bad mpg well anything under 50mpg on a 3cylinder 1ltr engine is outragerous as my 1.6ltr lean burn avensis 11yr old did 52mpg (55-60mph)!!! got a aygo which i noticed on here some people get rubbish mpg i get 62mpg out of my aygo and thats a steady 55mph to work 37miles one way and weekends around town goes up to 67-70mpg so very happy with it. I nearly got a iQ but after test drive on dual at 70 passing 44tonne artics well felt like i was being sucked in but the aygo was more road grabbing. Good luck with what you get next, which is what???

Are the mpg figures obtained from the trip computer? If so and the electronics haven't been re-programmed for those 17" opposed to the standard 15" wheels then the computer will possibly think the cars done less miles for the same consumption.

Was there a difference in MPG with and without those wheels? You'd be surprised how much impact putting a massive steamroller of a wheel like that on each corner has on fuel economy.

During the first attempt at replacing my steering column for the recall they had disconnected the Battery, so all my counters had reset and I've noticed that my iQ3 Multi-drive is only getting around 30 MPG with purely town driving. I have to admit, I did expect more than +12 MPG coming from a 4.3 V8 auto that was getting 18-20 around town.

Our IQ 2 CVT is going back to the dealers for the recall this week and some investigation works since it is impossible to get more than 26MPG out of it or 150 miles out of a tank !

Given the IQ 2 has climate and this nearly stalls the car when the AC is turned on at tick over we have asked the dealer to start with this.

What feedback have the dealers been providing in regard to this problem. The Yaris 1.3 SR we px'd for the IQ never got below 48 on the same journey's.

Still with 26 mpg to the gallon to equal the replacement could be interesting, has anyone taken legal advice on this?

I suspect handing it back isn't going to be a viable option ?

Is there a percentage deduction for the buy back of defective vehicles ?

Or a finacial payment to offset the reduced economy ?

In real terms given my limited usage the car is drinking a tank more than it should do on a monthly basis around £30 or £360 a year

My Husband has had silly stuff over the years 400bhp plus cars that have managed more mpg.

Ironically the cost of the fuel isn't a real issue (fortunatley) as the daily commute isn't quite 20 miles but the constant petrol station visit's are becomming tiresome and the feeling of being striped up leaves an unpleasent taste in the mouth - which is a shame since this is the 5th new toyota we have had from the same dealer in the last ten years.

Unless a resolution can be found doesn't look there will be a 6th.

Hopefully it will be a software update, faulty sensor, or an overtight auxillary belt.

One final thought has anyone noted a difference between using regular petrol or super ? This is next on our trial & error list, but given the short amount of miles done it is taking some time to get some meaningful data.

Just picked mine up and with normal town driving (lots of stop starts and fairly swift at times) I am seeing 45mpg so fairly happy with that. On the motorway at a steady speed I am seeing 50+ mpg.

Yes have to agree on the wheels. For me a total waste of £1100. The wheels on the standard car are fine.
