Abs Mot Failure

Hi

Not been on here for a while

Could do with some advice. Friend of mine has a 1997 Petrol Auto 3 door Rav4

One of the front Springs broke a while ago so he decided to replace the pair of them.

In the process of replacing the Nearside Spring, he has managed to break the ABS sensor on that side

it's the round switch that fits on the wheel. One half is still embedded and the other half is hanging by the cable

he took it for an MOT today expecting it to fail on one or two things. But the only fail was the ABS light on dash

The question is how to remove the embedded part we tried but it's not moving. Also do you have to buy the whole assembly or does the sensor on the wheel come as a seperate part.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Regards

Ian

You have to remove enough clutter to be able to drill it out. Some times if you use a small drill (1 or 2mm) and drill down the side, it will loosten the broken part.

It comes as a sensor with the lead moulded on.

Thinking back, i was somewhere around £86 for a front ABS sensor, that was October 2009.
