Toyota Avclan (Cd Changer) Connector

Might be of use to somebody wanting to make up their own cd-changer/ipod adapter cable or similar:

I've tracked down the Amp/Tyco part number for the connector plug for Toyota's newer 6+6 AVCLAN (or cd changer) connector on the back of their radios.

The Tyco part number for the Shell is 1318774-1.

The female crimp part number is 1123343-1.

Much to my surprise, they are now stocked at RS components - rswww.com. These do fit, I've tried them :).

Shell 1318774-1, RS Stock Number: 7121407

Crimp 1123343-1, RS Stock Number: 6804965

Crimp 1123343-2, RS Stock Number: 7121968 (This one is part gold, so they are a fair bit more expensive than the standard crimp)

You might say "so what?". Well, it is quite unusual when developing vehicle electronics for specific harness connectors to be available from a distributor like RS. We normally have to go straight to the manufacturer. I don't think they have been stocked long though, as they are marked as "New".

If you don't have a business account, RS will charge you about £5 delivery flat rate.

The older 5+7 connector may well be in there too, I haven't tracked it down yet and it is of lesser interest to me.

Is the info worth pinning Mr moderator?

useful info

How did you manage to find it? via part number or looking at the various images and spotted the same one? (may want to try and track down an elusive Nissan connector  )

Normally I just end up with Toyota part numbers (if lucky), which usually draws a blank unless you are working on one of their development projects

Anyway, I had a radio apart and another part number was on the PCB connector. It fitted a Tyco part numbering scheme. After a bit of searching on the Tyco site (I could have gone straight to the rep, but it wasn't worth the hassle):

http://www.tycoelectronics.com/default.aspx

I found the matching harness end and crimps there. Can't remember whether it was then google with that part number or a search and a vain hope on the RS site. Anyway, there it was!

Nissan.....erm :g:. Haven't worked on anything for them for a while. Dunno off the top of my head, who would be their main connector supplier. Some other connector sites to look at:
