Dip Beam Is Rubbish

Just picked up my XT5 today and drove it home in the dark. Main beam is great but dip beam is abysmal. Headlights both on and aligned OK but just seem very dim. Are there any better bulbs I can fit to boost the output?

Do you have projector lens in the Rav?

The reason i ask is because i have just fitted the Ring xenon max bulbs in my Auris which has projector lens, and at first i thought they were good, but lately i have found that they seem worse than the standard bulbs were.

I replaced high and main beams and high is particularly bad, they act more like fog lights in front of the car and offer virtually no distance above the main beam.

Mine is in for an early MOT and service next monday, so i will have the alignment checked just in case that is the cause, but if it turns out to be the bulbs, i will be binning them.

HIDS

Hi Hemi,

Think the days of after market HIDS are coming to an end. They become part of the "test" in November this year. I have them fitted and they are brilliant. I was gutted when I found about the revised test requirements. However, it looks as though the fog light bulbs are the same fitting so I'm tempted.........

Not that i would suggest anyone ever do this...

But HID's are pretty easy to install and remove, so you could *ahem* put in halogens for the MOT and *ahem* re-install the HID's an hour later.

I'm underwhelmed with mine. Maybe i got a bad batch, or maybe they don't work as well with my headlights for whatever reason, but looking at online reviews, i'm not the only one regretting them.

Hopefully other Rav4 owners will get the same result you have had
