Basically my first years free club Toyota membership is coming to an end and they have asked whether i want to renew it. Is it worth it? for £64 it seems good value, considering the AA cover, but i haven't (to my knowledge) used any of the clubs benefits.

Also to make matters more complicated, my wife drives a Honda Jazz and she is already AA members, and the renewal for that will be around the same time and about £107 for just her, but £140 for the both of us.

Club Toyota says you can get a 40% discount on AA cover on non Toyota cars but i just wondered if anyone has ever done that, and how easy it is etc...

I think it would work out cheaper to by both club Toyota and then 40% discount on single AA cover (for the Wife) but i do quite like the idea that if i was to go straight with the AA then it would be me myself who is covered rather than the car.

I hope this makes sense, as i do think i have rambled on abit. :o

We are in the same predicament. Membership is running out but we have other breakdown cover.

I think with the deals currently on offer for family membership AA or RAC I am probably going to go for that as then it will apply to any car I am in rather than just the Toyota.

Fantastic little cars and at this age shouldnt need breakdown cover!!

I was tempted to stick with Club Toyota, but instead I went with Green Flag for around £28.00/year. Obviously far cheaper, I hadn't really used any of the Club Toyota benefits in the year I had with them, although I'm sure it's a great scheme. But for what I need, Green Flag was fine.

Up until a couple of years ago I had been a member of club toyota for over 20 years without using any of the benefits (except once when i left the tailgate of a carina open and flattened the battery) then 3 years ago i tried their annual travel insurance - mum then died and we had to cancel a 3 week trip to Canada, CT paid out with no quibble, and we still do our annual policy with them.

Then last year I had a heart attack whilst driving back from Norfolk, CT bought the car home the next day for me, again no quibble...

Yes, there may be others that do this, but for the same money? Without any quibbles? Quite possibly, but i can only go by my experiences, which have all been good

The blues club toyota membership runs out in a few weeks and ive decided its easier to stick with them. Their travel insurance will be very much considered thanks the the review by J&T. Good to know they helped out in unfortunate circumstances. Ive had a number of major fallouts over travel insurance with some big providers so thanks for pointing me in the way of club T.
