Remaining Miles In Display

Recommended Posts

I have a 2009 IQ2. I saw a description some where that there was a software fix to the computer that gave a new information on the display.

The fix gave information about how many miles remains before refueling.

It should be easy for Toyota to do. All informations are already in the computer - it should be a simple task.

Hope some one can help me on this.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Not as far as I'm aware, there's no remaining miles option for the mini-display (and yes, I admit, it would be useful).

The software fix was to rectify the instant mpg figure, otherwise it had a maximum of 60.0, now it goes all the way up to 99.9.

On a similar note - when the last two 'blobs' of fuel are remaining, when one disappears, itg starts to flash straight away, is this to say that it is immediately on the reserve, or that there is a 'bit more' and then the reserve left.

The indicator itself is not that clear on how many miles are approximately left in the tank - I know the best thing to do is not let it get that low, but sometimes the all too common phrase 'insufficient funds' rears its ugly head.

So is the last 'blob' the reserve tank itself - or is there a rough rule of thumb that can be applied ??

Don't mean to appear like a dumba$$, but I often wondered and the handbook doesn't explain too well. . .

I check the odometer as soon as the last blob starts flashing - I then know I can go approx. 100 miles before I run out.

This is obviously dependant on your driving style etc. I have a an IQ1 manual and average 55mpg.

I've figured out there's about eight litres of fuel in the tank when the last block starts flashing.

For all the displays on the iQ I'm surprised there isn't a mileage left counter. Even if there was one that only appeared when the fuel is low it would be useful.
