Hi Guys, I,m back again.Had car diagnosed last week and error p0155 oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1. I replaced the passenger side oxygen sensor today and had the ECU reset. The warning light came again so reset it again and checked connections. Connections were fine and no light 15 mins later light was back on.I am open to any suggestions as what to do next as i am totally out of ideas.Does anyone know why im still getting this error code or what else could be causing it?Thanks.Scott.

The code doesn't necessarily mean the sensor itself is faulty. It only means a malfunction has been detected - not the same thing.

For instance if the engine was over-fueling or unburnt gases here entering the exhaust such a fault would show.

So in fact there may be a fault elsewhere.

Before replacing a lamda sensor it resistances should be tested for inherent faults.:)

I had same error code on my RAV4 - took to Toyota dealer, bought new part (cost £177 +VAT) but they couldn't replace because it was stuck. Ended up taking it to my brother who is a car mechanic, he got it out but diagnostic showed up that the other top sensor was faulty - this was replaced but engine management light was still on. The diagnostic showed up that the two remaining lower sensors were faulty - these were replaced and hey presto the light went out. All told the job cost me about £500 because of little bros help and ability to get Denso sensors cheaper elsewhere + the first sensor bought from the Toyota dealer. Anyway, have just sold my Rav4 fault free. Seems odd that fault code originally showed only one sensor but ended up replacing them all.

Have now got a 2.2 D-4D Avensis TR, hope I don't get a repeat problem - have got Toyota Warranty, so hoping that such faults are covered. John.

Got the sam problem with mine, but it's showing 3 sensors with faults in the heater circuit. Had a wordwith an auto electrician i know, and he says if you change one sensor at a time, for some unknown reason, the others seem to flash up. If you change all 4 at once, he gets no more problems. I got a price of £50.00 each plus vat, for N.G.K. Does that sound about right. I think i am going to change all mine in one go.

If you look on e bay you can find them for around £30 each. I,ve just changed the one so far so i might have to change the other ones as well i guess.Thanks.Scott

£50.00 for NGK one and £70.00 for Denso. My EML has just come on so it feels like I will need to change Oxy sensor too.

I was looking at diagnostic tools (engine code readers), does anyone have any experience with these? Which one would be the best? I am driving 2000 Avensis 1.8 VVTi, 1ZZFE engine. Or maybe there is someone here who lives in Edi/Glasglow and could help me to find out what the problem is (for a small fee :) )

If you just want a no-thrills scanner, I'd recommend the U480 OBDII scanner. It's about £25 on Amazon. It'll read and clear faults.

I bought one about 18 months ago when a light came up on my Mitsubishi Galant, and it has worked on my wife's 2001 1.8 vvti Avensis too. At £50 a go to get a garage to diagnose it for you, it's already paid for itself several times over.

hi scot i had this problem myself code came up as driver side on google changed this then had same problem then found out that it was passenger side changed this all ok now i would probably agree with comments made that you may have to change both to cure the problem, but i am sure i read somewhere that a dirty inlet manifold /sensor can cause the same kind of fault due to incorrect mixture, may be worth a look.
