I can't help with the pollen filter location, but the stale stench of cig's can be cured with an air neutralising deodorant 'bomb' that most decent car valeters use. When i took mine for a test drive i noticed the same horrid smell and told the dealer that i would not collect the car if they couldn't shift the smell. He assured me that the valeter would be able to remove it with an aerosol can that they crack open, throw in the car and leave with the aircon circulating.

In fairness it did the trick, and even though i collected the car with a brand new magic tree in my pocket, it wasn't really needed.

Pop along to a decent valeters and see if they can help you out.

Pollen filter behind lower glovebox.

Rear light covered under warranty if vehicle under 3 years old.

Discs look like possible surface rust if under warranty have them checked but Toyota now only cover discs for 18 months not 3 years due to the fact they are made out of crap steel.

The good old days of Toyota discs lasting beyond 100k miles are gone.

cheers guys for the prompt answers,on the discs you can actually catch your fingernails on the groves, i thought it was just surface rust myself.as for the ciggy smell ,will try the aircon bomb.cheers again..

UPDATE,had the car at local toyota dealer today, they are changing both back light clusters ,brake discs and pads ,they also picked up on another couple of things that they will replace as well ,wheel nuts, black plastic strip on roof gutter lifting at edges so replacing both and everything covered under warranty,if anybody in the Helensburgh area then i cant recommend Helensburgh Toyota enough.

It is really easy. Pollen filter is behind the glove box. When you open the glove box, you will notice a small shock absorber between the box and the passanger side door. There is a "thingy" that looks like a mushroom sliced in halves that holds the shock absorber. Sqweeze it and pull out the absorber. Then close the glovebox halfway and just pull it up - it's out of the way now. Behind it you will notice a small reqctangular plastic lid, behind which is the filter. Hope I wrote it understandable. If someone has problems with that, please PM me and I will take some pictures of the process - it is really easy - like 5 minutes or so.
