Random Bleep - Solved!

A few times when I've been driving, the car has bleeped for no apparent reason... usually when pulling away or braking...

Couldn't figure it out and then realised what it was.

I usually put my laptop case on the passenger seat (it's fairly heavy) and under acceleration or deceleration it's obviously triggered the sensor in the seat that registers if there's someone sitting there - with the result that it was the seatbelt warning bleep going off.

I'd been looking at the dash for what it could be when it was the little red light above the glovebox all along.

Thought I'd post this in case any other owners were also trying to find the source of random bleeps.

I have doner a similar thing in the past

I have a random bleep on my laptop from time to time but as it does not have a seatbelt I am at a loss as to what it might be

Can happen on the back seats too.

You sure about that Willis?

I thought the rear seats would only beep ONCE you've connected the seatbelt and then undone it whilst still sat on the seat. If you just sit on the rear seats or put a heavy box on them, no beep should occur - only the drivers display flashes no seat belts.

You can also get the rear seat belt beep removed completely too if you ask your dealer nicely.

I did that with my previous car, a Subaru, and even phoned two main dealers before I figured it out!

You could be right. It certainly bleeps like mad if someone undoes their seat belt while moving. Will give it a go tonight!

Did ask the dealer to customise it but they refused saying it was there for safety and whatnot.
