Noisy Lifters ?

As the Title Suggests .. I have noisy lifters

The Oil light came on for about 5 seconds and ever since they have been noisy at about 3000 rpm when I get to 3500 and over the noise disappears ...

I am close to the 100,000 mile timing belt change (got just over 1000 miles to go), what I was wondering is what harm can I do to the engine running with Noisy Lifters? Can it wait until it goes in for the Timing Belt change and the full engine service i'm going to get done on it ?

Thanks in Advance

Daz

OK, the reason I asked is that the Gen 7 doesn't have a Timing Belt, it's Chain driven so you won't have to pay for a replacement.

I am concerned that the internals of your Engine may be damaged though. Usually, when the Oil Pressure Light illuminates due to a low Oil level, it's too late to prevent a big bill. Hope I'm wrong on this one though. Did you need to add any 5W30 after the light came on for a few seconds?. The Engine on the pre 03 140's is renowned for an Oil starvation issue leading to damage to the Valve Train and Crankshaft Bearings, so have my fingers crossed for you. Toyota were offering a free replacement Short Block as they are well aware of this problem, but this was on cars up to seven years old, so has of course now expired.

ah ok im always used to Belts didnt realise mine had a chain ?

i did add a little bit, it was just under the minimum on the dipstick, since i have done a full oil change.

its going in for its MOT tomorrow so I may get them to have a listen and see if they can diagnose it, thanks for the advice...

Ok so the garage that did the MOT (It Passed :D ) said they dont normally deal with the intricacy of the engine ... I popped down to an engine specialist ... They have said they think that its the Crank that is going ...

They will need to take the Sump off to tell if it is that ... How expensive is it to get the Crank replaced ?
