Prius Will Not Function

Thursday I took my 2004 Prius to Toyota for the recall on the Hybrid systems water pump. At the same time I had them do the 150,000 mile oil change/check up. They did the oil change, rotated tires, found rear brakes needed adjusting and replaced the drive belt.

I drove the car home 25 miles. I drove to work and home on Friday. Did not drive it on Saturday. Got up Sunday and could not unlock doors with key fob. Could not start car.

Is it possible that this was caused by the dealership?

Or, is this just a coincidence?

Am I right to assume that at least, my 12 volt Battery is dead?

Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What about the tailgate not closing properly and although you, sensibly, normally leave the boot light switched off, the dealer switched it on to test it??

Certainly sounds like a flat 12v.... Are you still in Club Toyota, if so call them

Or

Call the dealership where you had it serviced tomorrow....

At this time, tail gate seems closed tight. Unable to tell if boot light is on or off. Button is toggled in downward position, but no indicators to tell if that is on or off.

Not in the Club but will definitely be calling the dealership.

Did check head lights and switch is definitely on off.

Have been able to jump start the car with the terminal under the hood. Let it run for about 10 minutes, shut it down and restarted it. Now know I can get it started. Will call dealership in morning and then get it to them to determine why it decided to quit at this time.

Took Prius to dealership. They checked system and only thing they could determine was that the 12v Battery needed charged. System looks fine, Battery looks fine. They did say that they had a Battery in stock and it would cost $212.00 installed. I told them that I would give it one more chance before I replace it.

I truly believe they left something open or on and that is why my battery discharged.

Next question would be, is there another source for that battery that would be less expensive?

Surely there are plenty of independent parts shops in your area that could supply you with a Battery of equivalent capacity and output :huh:
