Flywheel

Hello

My Rav4 is vibrating when idling and has a metalic rattle under acceleration, the dealer has diagnosed a problem with the flywheel, luckily it is under warranty and they have agreed to replace. The earliest they can do the job is in 3 weeks time, my main concern is if I continue to use the car am I liable to cause damage to any other parts.

Hi and welcome to the club though sorry to hear of your problem.

I guess your flywheel [DMF] could be OK for a while but, as the dealer has identified the problem and agreed to replace it, should you continue to drive it and subsequently have a catasrophic failure that damaged other major parts, I suspect you would be expected to pay.

The fact that they have agreed to do the work [circa £1800 - £2000] would make me err on the side of caution.

Thanks for the advice, I will have to push toyota for an earlier appointment.

hello mate

i'd keep the car in the garage.

the main profit for you is that MrT has accepted DMF changing for free for you.

Further running with such issue may create another issues leading to money waste at your account !!!

be patient and use a bus or metro :)

Good luck

Igor

...oh and whilst it was in, they discovered the water pump had a leak. It was within warranty by only a week or two. So that got fixed foc too!

As a matter of interest / future storage, would you name said lovely dealer?

Big Kev :help:
