Electric Window Repair

Hi All

One of the rear windows on my 2004 tourer is not working properly, it looks like its jumped out of its holder or rails inside the door as the mechanism seems to be working and will hold the window up, if i 'open' the window i can hear the mechanism wind down but the window travels freely. As any had any experience or knows of a good Post that shows me how to remove the interior trim so can have a look and hopefully repair?

thanks

Hi Pete, do you have a section that specifically illustrates the rear doors? This is excellent info though, it shows me how to get to the rear window washer jet to realign which was an earlier post of mine! Plus I was going to ask how the front bumper is held on which is also shown, so many thanks again! b

PS Does anybody know the correct name for the round plugs with a central pin that are used for holding the radiator cover in the engine bay in place? they are on page 27/34 of Pete's attachemnet, they are also used to hold the under trays and inner wheel arches together underneath the front. I need to buy some.

Hello again, sorry that's all I have.

I was also disappointed to find that the rear doors weren't shown but I think it should give you a good idea of what's what because they will be similar in the way the door cards are held on and how the mechanism works. As you say there are lots of other good info in there for other jobs that may need attention.

Here's another useful .pdf, still no rear doors ..................... but lots in there.;)

PS Big Kev put this link on a few days ago http://www.tools-supplies.co.uk/automotive-trim-clipsbody-clipsbody-fixings-156-c.asp

You could send for some or just pop into Toyota but they will charge you a lot for them I would think

Regards .... Pete.

Hi

I used the drawings supplied by Pete (above) to work out how to remove the rear door trim and investigate what the prolem was with the window - thanks Pete!. The glass sits in a metal sleeve, this had fallen off. I have pushed the gless back into the sleeve in the original position (outline could be seen in the dirt!) and ensured that the glass is sitting all the way down into the sleeve and in turn reattached the sleeve to the mechanism arm. However, when I close the window using the auto 'one touch' method the glass travels all the way up and then immediately opens to half way. This does not happen if i manually hold the button up to close the window. Does anybody have any ideas why the anti-trap function is being activated? Can it be adjusted? I assume if you close manually it overrides this function?

cheers

Bryan

Hi Bryan

I had the same problem on my 2003 TX-3 on the front near-side window. The way the problem was cured was when my Battery went flat and I changed it for a new one. So I think the action of disconnecting the Battery must have reset the window. I didn't have to input the radio code when I changed the Battery either. Good luck.

Hi,

The window's "auto-top" position has to be re-learned.

To do this, close the window manually and hold the switch in the closed position for 5 seconds.
