We have had a Verso 1.8 for two years, it's been very good to date but I have just noticed a reduction in MPG. We seem to be losing around 10% according to the trip. On a longer run the average MPG has reduced to under 37MPG as opposed to the previous 42MPG. Probably in the dealers for review next week. Does the 1.8 petrol have ERG valve fitted or any other advice or experience - filters, dragging breaks etc??

Also when the car is first started there is a LOUD relay type sound kicking in generally just as you move off. Dealer advises this normal - surely not??

Loud click when moving off could be the ABS check, as reported in other forum posts. Is the car due for a service soon or has it been driven in more dusty conditions lately? There is quite a lot of grit, dust and general rubbish on the roads at this time of year (notice how many times you have to use the screen wash).

The car is at about 36k so another 4k to go to the next service. I will have to get into the workshop next week as there is definetly something wrong on the fuel side. Thanks RE the ABS - could be, the car has always done it and the workshop techs say it is normal.
