Does It Fit?

I own a Rav4 2004.

It has a 1AZ-FE motor, I need to buy a new one but each time I search for

a Toyota Rav4 2004 I find a 2AZ-FE motor, I'm confused.

Does this motor fit in the place of the 1AZ-FE motor?

Please advice.

Hi Blackspot

The 1AZ-FE motor is a 2.0VVTi and the 2AZ-FE is the 2.4VVTi which is the standard unit in the US. May I suggest you search for your engine on a European website (maybe ebay) where you will find the 1AZ-FE far more popular

You could probably fit the other engine but need to take account of things like a different wiring loom; ecu; and so on. Much bigger task.

When I search the net with the vin# it gives me 04/2004.

but when I search for 1az-fe it gives me till 2003.

But if I could find maybe a place that they have only the small block with the piston and crankshaft assembled

thet would be good too.

My motor was damage because of sludge on the oilpump strainer.

I can assure you that the 1AZ-FE was used from year 2000 until 2005 in Europe. The same angine is still used to this day in RAV 4s but much of the ancilliary componenets have been upgraded so it would be more difficult to adapt to your car. As Bothwell Buyer has suggested, the 2AZ-FE engine might well be adapted to fit your car but you will have no trouble sourcing that engine here. I found this here;
