Boot Problems

Hi all, I hope there isn't anything like this already on here, I've searched and couldn't find anything.

I've got two problems.

I recently went in my boot to find everything damp, almost dew like on some surfaces. I emptied the boot of the Auris rubber matt, carpet and thing that hold the jack / brace and found....

1] about 1 inch of water in the tyre well...

2] a sizeable area that looked like it had been patched up / welded and resprayed?

There are small holes that I pushed some water back down, is it coming up from there?

I bought the car from an RRG Toyota dealer and they didn't metion any accidents, repairs to this area! Is this normal, can anyone post a pic of their bare boot :censor:

I'll pop some pics up of mine in due course.

Thanks folks.

Go back to your dealer tell them the problem and ask have the vents in the boot been replaced This was subject to a recall that RRG didnt pick up and should be done free of charge I had the same problem with RRG

What's the recall for the vents? Never heard of it.

Was it for all Auris's?

Apparently there are air vents between the wheelarches and the boot I dont know if it applies to all models mines an Auris tr 2.0 D4D on a 57 plate mine was bought from RRG to so whether other dealers were up to scratch and carried out the upgrade before delivery I dont know but it seems funny both cars came from RRG

Incidentally mine was bought from RRG Bolton!

I shall have a look for water at the spare wheel well tomorrow, thanks for that.

Given this wet weather we're having it would be usefull for everyone to check their boots to see if it's spraying in from under the car / wheel arches!

I'll be diving into mine shortly.

Juat had mine replaced this week

Where exactly are we looking?

I've no sign of water in the boot but just curious to know where too look for the source of the leak (the vents)!

A pic would help if it not too much trouble :D

Never saw the vents myself. The car would be full of condensation every morning thought it was just the cold weather. Went im the boot to put some stuff in there and the boot carpet was wet. Took it out and everything was wet. There was a trickle of water coming from underneath the left wheel are cover.

The car is still under warranty so just had the dealership fix it. According to them the vents arent the problem, its the gasket around them. They replaced both gaskets at a cost of £25ish each, seems high for a gasket so unsure if they had to do the vents as well.

Still leaking but from the oposite side now. MrT replaced both vents but in doing so have introduced a leak to the side that was fine. Back it goes :censor:

hi guys new to this forum, i have had auris for 3.5 years and since past six months noticed water in spare tyre well, drained and took to toyota preston who charged me £150 saying it was a faulty lamp unit and they would have to replace one of them, still leaking and now started leaking on the other side as well, will definitely mention the recall tomorrow when i ring toyota. thanks guys

Just checked mine this morning wet again all around the vent on the offside and carpet and boot lining :crybaby: going back into RRG on thurday for another go

The vents are in the jack compartment and go into the rear bumper void I am just wondering if I had mud flaps fitted the spray of the rear wheels wouldnt find its way up to the vents It would be interesting to know if anyone with mud flaps fitted have had this problem it is definitely spray coming in from somewhere

I have a towbar fitted which they origionally said was the problem which obviously isnt

Maybe it would be better to cover the dam things up completely what are they there for anyway

KINGOS a bit quiet on this one any thoughts

Mine is going back in this Saturady, hopefully it will be fixed properly this time. Out of curiosity does anyones leaks appear around the same time their cars are washed, if so were they washed with a hose, pressure washer or an automated car wash?

In a word... No!

I sort of forgot about it for a while, but having recently been enthused by the thread I took a look... See below! It's not sorted, a call to Mr T is on the cards.
