ha haa you'll be lucky...

I guess the biggest to pull to go gold is the discount parts scheme but if your Toyota is like mine (well maintained and doesnt break down) thats some where next to useless,

The next biggest thing is the private handshake members forum, no idea what goes on there, i prefer to just have fun with the standard forum with 'standard and gold' members LOL.....

I guess what i'm saying is....

if you have a troublesome car i guess it will help, they are a good bunch but its not suitable for everyone. :group-cuddles:

Is this the MG owners club, or the MG forum, the first is like club toyota(ie run by toyota itself), the second like the toyota owners club!!(run by enthusiasts) Ithink

also like to state the MG club has been going for many many years and is probably the biggest car club in the world

it is a full blown business too.

Every car needs servicing.. so we help cover these costs with gold membership.

Hmmm, I was in the MG owners club 25 years ago when I had an MG so it must be pretty mature club by now! Strange but my MGBGT (chrome bumpered) was slower, thirstier, less reliable, less comfortable etc etc etc than my Prius! Still, it seemed fun at the time....the thrill of wondering if you'd get where you were going without the RAC. Ahhhhh, those were the days

I joined Gold because I want to support the efforts of these guys who do this for the love of it and to get discounts. Even with my reliable Toyota, I should get my mebership back in a year.

there are a lot more offers to gold than car service discounts.

if your into moding cars in anyway youll make that 25 quid seem like loose change.

also some discounts are not even car related - not saying what though :P

also the 25 quid goes towards server hosting for the gold & puplic forums which cost quite a bit themselves.

ontop of that a few pints for steve & the moderators down the pub when they chill out after the hard work they do - i recon becoming golds worth while.

What a load of twaddle (I'm being polite)

Is your car one of them unique ones that doesn't require servicing??

I was very sceptical about joining gold, but I'm glad I did.

And to show my support, I've signed my new buisness venture up to offer Goldies 10% discount.

The range of discount companies grows daily, car and non-car related.

If you only spend a minimum of £250 a year on your car (I wish mine was as low as that) your save your membership fee.

perhaps i modded my car before i used these forums, the only 'service' stuff i buy from this country is oil and water.....

I didnt say the discounts scheme was a bad thing, it's just not for me. no biggie, i do all my own work too, perhaps that helps.

i had my soarer for 6 months and spent 2.5k on it

i myself got a brill saving from it.

Not only car parts either... 4 of us are going to Alton Towers and we save 20% on that too!.. free lunch in theory!

Good for you with what you do, its just not for me, cant see the problem there, enjoy your £4 you saved on peak entry costs, Alton is good fun.

Neil

The only reason that it's 'secret' is because not all the dealers and companies actually ask to see your membership card - so in theory if you knew what dealer was participating you could obtain the discount without actually paying for (and supporting of course) the club.

Errrrr . . have I said too much ? :shutit:

nope i guess not. I've made a few friends along the way here and enjoyed helping people out on the corolla forum from time to time but my corolla is just a modded daily driver, nothing more, I feel i've given more than i'd ever expect to recieve, if i have to 'pay' for anything it will be lowrider related.

thanks, its been fun.

I went gold and so far haven't claimed (I had a mix up at the dealership which meant I lost out on a possible saving). But to be honest, I'm looking at making a purchase from a well known high-street store which offers a discount and with the 10% saving I'll make at least half of the membership fee back.

Even if I don't make use of the discounts I don't mind the £25. It's supporting my forum habit and at 50p a week it's not exactly expensive.

i'd pay to be a club member but i dont feel i have the time, effort or need to be in a toyota club right now.... i just like to use the forum.

Hey, by going GOLD you get the privilage of hanging with ME in the lounge bar. What more could you want......... :P

GOLD is ME supporting TOC, and all the hard work Steve & Co. have done to make this a place that I want to come back to again and again.

Personally, I don't give a stuff if I get a discount here, there and everywhere but - IT IS DAMN NICE WHEN YOU DO.

Now, Steve - any airline flight discounts in the pipeline......

I'm not sure if people know how much money a fair-size forum swallows... Having had direct experience of a small forum going from 50-100 users and less than a Gb/month, to 1000s of users and 5-15Gb/month, I reckon 50p a week works for me! Plus, the discounts are pretty easy to find... high-street stores (say no more)!
