I joined the forum several years ago when my car was a dark blue Avensis estate (V597LBH) which served me brilliantly - if not excitingly- for about 5 years. Other than tyres and routine servicing the only garage bill was £12 for a replacement ignition switch which I fitted myself. Is she still out there and running OK? For the last 4 years I have had a Mondeo Mark 3 TDCI (130) hatch which cost me £1500 for a new clutch and dmf at 33000 miles whilst still under warranty. Ford refused to take any interest - the usual line about wear and tear item etc - leaving me absolutely determined never to buy a Ford again ............. and to tell as many people as possible about my disgruntlement! I am returning to Toyota with a 2009 2.2 D-4D T4 tourer due to be with me at the end of the month. I chose the 2.2 as I tow a caravan. Here's hoping no gasket problems!

I feel your pain with mk3 Mondeo TDCi. I had a 2004 Mondeo Zetec S with the TDCi 130 engine. It was really rattly and the injectors needed replacing on it, so rather than pay £1000 for a new set I traded it in for my current Avensis. It put me off Fords and diesels in general.

is this a trend? i too left a 06 mondeo 130 and came back to toyota, mine cost me rusting alloys, aux belt and tensioner, and injectors, and what was ford responce - tough, so enough was enough toyota dealers must have a lot of secondhand mondeos up for sale!

funny how mondeo and focus are in the list of top 10 selling s/hand cars, and no toyota is.

maybe pedal recall has something to do wth it.

that will soon forgoten about.

Peter - according to DVLA website the current licence for V597LBH expires at the end of this month (02/11), so it's still alive for now.
