Hd Sat Nav Update

Just curious as it will be the end of the month before I get the car but I note from a previous thread that updates to the HD based Premium Navigation System have to be dealer undertaken. Anyone know if they are yet available and how much the dealers charge?

I am not aware of anyone having their system updated as yet so I guess this is a matter for a phone call to the local dealer

There are 2011 updates out for the Premium system, the price is around £140 and they can only be uploaded by the Toyota area rep, take a look at this thread in the Prius section http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=120917 the system fitted to both cars is the same.

Thanks for the information. At that price Mr T is aven a laff! I'll hang on to my trusty old but updated Garmin Nuvi - apart from anything else it already includes speed cameras and warnings and other useful info.

I know, mental pricing isn't it. I love the integration of factory fit SatNav, I have had it on my last 4 cars, but they always lose out to TomTom / Garmin on a price and functionality level. £25 - £35 would be a price that most of us would be happy to pay I guess.

It's wrong as well IMHO that a new car is supplied with outdated maps, when I had my Skoda Superb the dealer included the CD with the latest map updates as part of the deal. The business of it being only the local Toyota Rep being able to do it is a farce as well, but maybe they wantto keep the updates out of the hands of the dealerships just in case they ended up on a torrent site, who knows :)
