Headlight Buzzer Not Working

Hey guys, new poster here but I've lurked before :)

So my mk1 Avensis just came back from Kwik-fit with some new brakes, and somehow (not necessarily related to it having gone to Kwik-fit) the headlight warning buzzer's stopped working. If I open the driver's door then turn the lights on, I get a short 'beep' then it gives up; if the lights are already on then I get no noise at all when opening the door. Any idea what I can do to fix this? I'm guessing something's shorting somewhere but not sure where to start looking for the issue.

Door sensors and headlamps are all working fine otherwise.

Thanks all :)

Maybe the buzzer is just dead and needs replacing

does your interior light come on when opening drivers door,if not then could be the door open switch that not earthing properly.its just inside your B piller.have a fiddle with it as maybe sticking.

if interior light is working ok then the switch will be ok.as ive not got an avensis myself i can only give general advice.

so others may have the answer.

Thanks but I think the door sensor works fine, as the dash light and interior light both work fine. And if the buzzer is broken, how come it can beep at all?

it looks like you will have to get Mr T to look at it, its funny is only buzzing once, after opening door and putting lights on.

Hello,

sounds more like a bad connection than a short circuit but like Pheonix said maybe the buzzer is faulty.

Pete.

Have you ever come across a burglar alarm that rather than wail it simply squeaks.... with an electrical current running through it the initial surge of power activates it but then the mechanism simply dies. Why it happens I don't know but it is all too common

Ok so the inevitable happened - went to drive home from the office yesterday and I'd left the damn lights on! After breaking into my own car through the boot (thanks Toyota for designing a car that won't open if the battery's dead) and jump starting it home, I checked all fuses that could be remotely relevant, but they all look fine, so it seems I'm going to have to try changing the buzzer itself.

Obvious next question: does anybody know where this buzzer is located, and how I would go about replacing it?
