Thanks Red Diesel,

I knew that at the time, but I had not done enough research then. And that was 5 years ago. Having lived on the Mazda forums in the UK and US for the last 5 years, I have no faith in their Customer service or their sympathy for the End User. When one user had horrendous problems with his DPF filter filling the sump with diesel Mazda actually told him that diesel cars were only meant for motorway driving and not local pottering about.

I sincerely hope that Toyota have a different attitude to their customers - not just because of current problems - but for life.

Take Care,

Krait

Mazda actually aren't the only manufacturer that are stating that cars with DPFs are not suited to town driving, VW has being saying the same thing to

some of its customers that have had issues with the DPFs. Incidentally - am i right in thinking that Mazda did a recall (not excusing Mazda in any way) for the filling up of the sump issue. Im sure they issued a recommendation that customers should check the oil levels regularly and if it was too high (which it would be if it were filling up with diesel) then the car was to go back to Mazda to be "fixed" I could be wrong though.

Actually they refused to do a recall and one guy took them to court and the case is still pending. The guy whom they told that it was not suitable for motorways had a runaway engine which he could not stop. Frightened the life out of him. He leeft the car there and refuseed to dirve it again. The User manual says that the user must check the sump level every week!!! And this is what Mazda are claiming is the user's fault for not doing religiously.

Who would buy any car if you were told in the showroom that you had to check the oil every week? I imagine 99.9% of us. I rerely look at the screenwash, leave alone the oil.

Anyway the good news is that I have a 3 year Service plan for around 550 1x50k, 1x60k and 1x70k.

Now all I need is one of those in-line gadgets that years ago they swore reduced the fuel consumption by more than 10%. HAH

In fact I read two weeks ago of some British scientists who had succeeded in reducing Hydrogen gas to micropellets so small that the engine injectors were fooled into believing it was a liquid. Apparently they are very confident that it will work on our petrol engines without any major mods. Talking about being available in 2012. Honest. I guess storage in the tank would be a problem among a few others, I imagine.

If only it would we could forget about the Middle East.
