Been thinking of purchasing some BG244 diesel cleaner to add to my fuel.

Purchased my car 2litre diesel new in June last year and it is now approaching 4000 miles, love the car and it runs perfectly (as it should at this mileage) I drive around 25 miles per day using mostly country roads and do very little urban driving and do around 1000 miles in France on their superb auto routes.

Is it worth paying for this to possibly allay any EGR problems etc?

Has anyone used this?

My car has the DPF on the exhaust.

Any comments would help me in deciding if to purchase.

I've used it, and think its amazing stuff! I changed my EGR valve yesterday (as I bought a new upgraded one off eBay with pipe for £130) and I was amazed how clean it was in there. Very little build up after 40k compared to the pictures I've seen on here of others EGR which are blocked.

Millers diesel clean is great to use on the fill ups to. and so is Forte. But BG244 in my book is the best

BG244 is an excellent diesel system cleaner but at that mileage I doubt very much if it would be necessery.

Best use Millers at every fill and save the BG244 for use at 10-15k intervals.

I agree... I do exactly that. I also try and use Shell V-power Derv whenever I get the chance.

Thanks Dervdave that is what I was wondering, think I will wait until a few more miles are clocked up, not sure how long I will keep the car but wanted to allay any possible build up of crud in the engine.

Use decent fuel with cleaning additives and you should reduce the build up as well as saving a few quid over all.

BG244 is very good stuff, i tried some in my previous car, but its too expensive to use as a one shot solution on a regular basis, and a decent fuel should keep things running properly anyway.

On the topic of fuel, i noticed this weekend that my local Shell are selling diesel for EXACTLY the same price as Tesco, but the Shell diesel has additives, so if anything, you get more for the same money. It always confuses me why people use supermarket fuel over a decent brand.

hi dave, know what you mean.there was a ESSO garage in NORWICH about half a mile from a TESCO supermarket.

ESSO had a policy that they would match their prices to the lowest in the area of the outlets.

but a lot of people still filled up at the tesco pumps.

several years ago i filled up the wifes car(petrol) at a TESCO forecourt,a couple of mile down the road the engine started pinking, if you were not very light on the throttle.this problem only stopped after refilling when the TESCO was used up.

there was nothing wrong with ignition timing of the car,i had, and still have timing lights, dwell meters etc from my days on the tools

after all the trouble their dodgy fuel caused a while back, i would not trust them.

but there again, people use there fuels, and are happy to do so.its their choice, as its mine, what fuel i use.

I never use supermarket fuels and always try to use BP, Shell or Esso but recently been using Jet due to it being my local fuel station and on the way home.

Thanks for all the replies, always useful to get other peoples views on these things and this is what keeps forums going.

i would say it is because when you buy your groceries at tesco they give you 5p of every litre.

My local Shell garage (winwick road, Warrington) is 1p per litre cheaper than the 2 tescos it sits between, ditto on why peeps use supermarket fuel, I guess it's convenience really as club card points on fuel are minuscule since tesco changed policy on it a while ago.

Thanks Davey. Is there anyplace on the 'High Street' I can get it? Someone told me KwikFit outlets stock it, but I checked locally and they don't.

I don't know of any high street stockists, and i think eBay is the cheapest option.

Its expensive stuff and hard to get hold of, so if you're in a hurry for it, find a reputed seller and get your order in quick.

Cheers. I'll get onto eBay tonight.

All the comments I've read about BG244 seem really positive. Hard to believe a UK retailer hasnt snatched it up.

Sounds like a business opportunity for someone!

I think you'll find that http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/ is the only seller on eBay that sells it. And if you register with powerenhancer it slighty cheaper. And you'll get special offers from them to.

I have bought some just after Christmas for a think £44 for 2 bottles of it...

The problem is, there are cheaper alternatives and people assume they are all the same, so a 'Halfords' brand for £5 a bottle will fly off the shelf long before a bottle of BG244 will at over £20 a bottle.

So many people put supermarket fuel in their car because they believe its cheap, but the same as brand name fuels, but sadly it isn't and thousands of miles later there are problems from carbon build up etc..

I've been using dipetane recently to help with a build up of carbon. Engine had been idling rough and would stall intermittently at idle / slowing down.

Two tanks later and it seems to be gone.

I used bg244 on an Audi 2-0 TD after 25k miles, the results were instant I will use this every 10k from now on.
