Front Brake Pads T180

[T180 NI]

After getting the car serviced today Toyota said I need new pads and discs up-front. I have seen Anchorman's excellent piece on changing rear discs but is there a guide to front's? Anything to watch out for when changing pads and discs and also any good suppliers on-line?

Do you notice any imbalance during braking? I'm not going to suggest that your stealer may be absolutely honest about the condition of your Discs & Pads but check your self.

If you change them yourself there are 2 sizes of pads listed after-market for the early T180. I know, I had the wrong set the first time.

Yep the discs are definitely worn and warped but not so they are causing me a problem. I'd prefer to fit genuine Toyota parts where possible in case they get uppity next time it goes in for a service.

Better check I order the right pads!

Yer discs aren't warped - its pad material thats stuck/welded onto them that causes that feeling. If this is the case (ie you think they are warped) then get the calipers and piston action checked out to make sure the pistons are returning as they should and not keeping the brakes on...otherwise you'll be needing more pads and discs sooner than you think!
