Windscreen Farce

Hi,

Had a replacement windscreen booked to be fitted last Monday, guy turned up on time nice and friendly. Gets the screen out and is not sure it's the right one but measures it up and all OK. Starts to prise out the existing screen causing more cracks and then decides he doesn't have the surround fittings! Tells me he can't continue and so patches it all back together again but now I have not one but three cracks! Earliest they can rebook is over 2 weeks away (nice to know they are keen to rectify their error!). I make a fuss and say want it done at workplace which is 25 miles away. As it's out of his area he says he'll get his Manager to call me to discuss and he leaves. Did I get a call - have a guess!

That evening I decide I should call the bookings line - after 25 minutes on hold I get through to be told all booked to be done at my home address! Ended up changing the date and will take another day off work but still have to wait over 2 weeks. With all this and problems when originally booking, I fired off a complaint letter to the MD so we'll see if I hear back.

Far be it from me to name and shame, but to give you a clue it's the well known company that isn't called Autoglass!

And today said firm, Auto Windscreens, has gone into administration!

Thank goodness they didn't take my £75 excess up front or I would have lost that.

Had that been the case your insurance company would have refunded it in full!

Bad luck on chooseing the wrong company.............Maybe you will get better service from their "unnamed" competitors

that unnamed competitor replaced the front screen on my sons lexus and used the A piller as a fulcram,so damaging the paintwork,when son complained they insisted the the marks were already there before they started,even though the car was examined by my son and another employee for any damage before starting work at their depot no existing damage

was found.when son told them about this,the other employee was unavailable as he was not on the premises.

they just denied all responsability.car was about 6 months old at the time.

There are so many people who say why does my phone have a camera on it...the answer so you can get any evidence you need of poor workmanship and out and out lies. Just take some reference shots of the car before any work is done on it and you will always have the upper hand in negotiations at a later date if required.

thats one idea,but if you consider work being done,and you include servicing then you need very many pics to cover all parts of a car,which would be inpractical.

but i see your point.
