Oooh Saw My First Auris Hsd On The Roads Yesterday

Spotted one yesterday. Am I correct in thinking they're the ones with the DRLs at the front, whereas normal Auris's don't? The one I saw definitely was a hybrid as I saw the hybrid Badge on the wing but think I might have seen a couple others about town IF they're the only Auris with drl's.

The people in the Auris hsd I saw gave me an odd look too (lol don't even think it!) so I guess they must have been from out of town and surprised to see a Prius taxi.

You are correct, but they can be switched off if required, another recognition point is that the Toyota badges on boot & bonnet have a blue background. ;)

I've had mine since Sept 2010 and haven't seen another on the road yet. :crybaby:

There you are Prius owners an opening for you to make lots of silly comments.

Terry, we wouldn't dream of making rude comments about another Hybrid...

Unless it was one of those honda thingies of course

I make silly comments about anything including myself oh sensitive one thumbsup.gif Remember words are only 7% of our communication, on a forum you are missing out on the body language and intonation. Just assume the best.

That's the nice thing about being British, we can take the P out of ourselves.... The problem comes when other nationalities can't!!!

(don't mention the war, or Mexican Blankets etc....)

I know at work I get to hear it all the time how I get these things, the Dutch get it as well. But on that note we are having sick on a plate with cheese tonight aka a Mexican meal.

 reminds me of why i dont eat curry....

Our dog was sick one evening many years ago, it looked exactly the same as the curry my wife had just dished up....

We have not had curry in our house since :yahoo:

Amazing the ability an Auris HSD has to turn a conversation about cars into curry :-p I am quite jealous, on our prius I get only comments about where my sandals are and how windenergy is ruining the landscape, or how a hummed is more green. Much rather talk about sick on a plate roflmao

Wasn't a white one was it ?

My colleague at work bought one as his company car. He got me a £100 cheque from the dealer for recommending him to Toyota, he lives up near Leeds and visits Harrogate fairly often.

It was, but I thought they all were.

No, they're not (although mine is  )

I regularly see a silver one driving around my area.

There are a few examples I see regularly around Newcastle city centre, and I've seen quite a few on the motorways. (And all white!)

I've always been sceptical about the value proposition of the Auris HSD versus the Gen 3 Prius. But in quite a short period they seem to be becoming as common a sight, so I'm happy to eat my words. They're obviously finding punters.

I think they are aimed at quite a different audience. My father in-law gets overwhelmed and scared when he sees the interior of the Prius and doesn't want such a large vehicle. He likes the Auris better because it looks 'normal' and is smaller, which is exactly what I've got against it. Just show that we all want different things.

I've got one and I've seen two others... Answers on a postcard...

Seriously though, we've had our Auris since July, allegedly the first non-demonstrator on the road in the Bristol area (according to the dealership, we even had to have our picture taken having the keys handed over). We actually went to look at another Avensis but I lost my wife in the showroom. When I went looking for her, I found her parked very happily in a HSD. "This is nice, can we have one of these?" was the question - the rest, as they say, is history, and we are very pleased with it.

BTW, ours is silver and the others I've seen were silver and dark blue (that looked smart!).

Dave.

Last I heard, Auris HSD sales were exceeding all expectations.

When we got ours, we were told that Mr. T were rationing the dealerships to six HSDs for sale or company lease to the end of 2010 - I guess the brakes have now been taken off. D
