Rav died again this morning (Diesel pump went in Dec). This time clutch has gone. In Germany and don't speak German. Luckly have international breakdown recovery. Anyway got taken to local Toyota dealer in Duisburg and thier charging me €3906.53.

Parts that are needed are:

clutch release bearing

Differential gear block

Clutch disc

Clutch pressure plate

And a schaltgetriebe whatever that is, which is most expensive part.

Transmission according to babel fish. Another on-line translation tool mentioned gearbox.

Clutch replacement in the UK is about £2000, can you get your motor back to the UK, unless someone else is paying for the repair?

my bro in laws rav is in getting new head gasket under warranty. he told them to do the clutch at same time and its only £300

Who says the Germans have no sense of humour? Either they are having one heck of a laugh or there is more dead there than the clutch. For reference this time last year I had a new clutch kit fitted to a petrol 4.2 RAV for about £500 by a good indie.
