Avensis Abs Sensor

Please could you help me. The front nearside wheel abs sensor is apparantly not working and my local dealer wants £200 to replace it. This sounds a lot to me.

Is the sensor easy to replace? Are any special tools needed? Would I need to have something done to the car computer as well? Is there a good place to buy a sensor and is there a specific part code I would need (my avensis is a 2006 d4d model)?

Could the sensor just need unplugging and plugging back in?

Any advice will be most appreciated. Thank you.

How did you know at first place that it was fault? Did ABS light turn on?

Thanks for replying. The abs and vsc lights came on so I took it to the dealer who did a diagnositic on it. Is this a common fault?

Try disconnecting the Battery for 20 minutes, to see if the fault persists.

If it does, dismantle the sensor to check there is no metallic rubbish stuck

between the toothed wheel and the sensor.
