Prius Gen 3 T Spirit Satnav Block On A Hampshire Road?

Has anyone come across an ordinary road which has a block on it that is built into the 2010 Prius (Gen 3) T Spirit's satnav hard drive mapping?

Recently, I set a route in Hampshire from Romsey to Chandlers Ford. The satnav refused to let me leave the A27 and use the clear direct route along Castle Lane.

I ignored the satnav’s advice as I know the area well and on further inspection I found the Prius satnav has a block on using a short section of this road. The block appears on the Prius screen as a yellow rectangle that is placed across the road (it is on Castle Lane between the A27 at North Baddesley and Templars Way at Chandlers Ford).

There is nothing special about this bit of road. It is semi-rural, has no weight or height restrictions and has not changed for at least fifty years.

Can any other T-Spirit owners see this particular block on their screens?.

My Prius has the 2009-2010 Version 1 SatNav software with the Gracenote 01727 database.

By the way, it has no relevance to the above, but the Prius and some other satnavs still do not know that access to the other end of Castle Lane, a mile or two away, was changed about 15 years ago!

It sounds like an area to avoid has been created.

Try this. Press the NAVI button, then touch ‘Memory’ on the screen. You will then have a screen headed ‘Memory points’, divided into ‘Memory points’ in the top half and ‘Area to Avoid’ in the bottom half. Touch ‘Delete’ in the bottom half and you will see a list of areas to avoid. Select the one you want and touch ‘Delete’.

In my Navigation System Owner’s Manual it’s on page 123.

If it is not a permanent feature, an accident or roadworks perhaps? That is the normal meaning of that sign on the screen

At least you had the common sense to ignore the satnav!

Many thanks Opifex for your advice. It solved the problem. I never thought that it would have been caused by my own actions!

I have never used Memory Points or Areas to Avoid but obviously I must have pressed one or more buttons at the wrong time without realising it and

thus I had installed my own Area To Avoid.

You live and learn.
