Its a common problem caused in the main by resting yer mitt on the gear lever. It wears a wee thing in the gearbox and is a fairly simple fix if yer handy. Parts King can supply the parts for the gearbox and there are instructions on how to do the job - previous posts on this forum and also on rav4world too.

Its not a very expensive job.
